Based on the current TPA Bylaws, House Speaker Robert Mayes has posted on the TPA website two versions of the Bylaws for your review - one highlights the proposed changes while the other is a clean version with the proposed amendments incorporated. The amendments were developed and recommended to the TPA Board of Directors by the TPA Association Affairs Council.  The Board subsequently reviewed and approved the changes and submission to the House for electronic adoption by the House of Delegates.  The vote may be taken only after the amendments are “published in a publication or the web site of the Association at least sixty (60) days prior to the meeting or vote.“  To meet this requirement, voting will occur on Monday, December 12, 2016.

The following are the more significant changes shown on the new redline version which is being recommended to the Board and House for approval:

• Chapter II, Sec. 11: Membership -  Added “Virtual Membership”

• Chapter IV, Sec. 2: Composition - Board of Directors - Added the Chair-Elect of Student group as an additional non- voting member to assure continuity

• Chapter IV, Sec. 3: Terms of Office – Board of Directors - Increased terms of Vice President and Pharmacy Technician Director two (2) year terms

• Chapter V, Sec. 1-8: Interest Groups - Changed Interest Groups to Academies with their own Board

• Chapter VI, Sec. 1: House of Delegates - Clarified charge of House of Delegates

• Chapter VI, Sec. 2: Officers - House of Delegates - Clarified responsibilities of Speaker

• Chapter VI, Sec. 3-6: Meetings, Delegates Quorum, Recommendations & Resolutions - Clarified various House of Delegates items

• Chapter VIII, Sec.5: Councils of the Association -  Reduced the size of the Public Policy Council from 25 to 17

The delegates certified at the March 21, 2016 House of Delegates meeting will be voting electronically on December 12, 2016.
