Greetings from The Woodlands, where the 2018 TPA Conference & Expo is underway! Pharmacists, student pharmacists, and technicians from across the state are here to learn, network, support the profession, and have fun. It's not too late, particularly if you're in the Houston area, to join in the festivities. Single-day and full-conference registration is available on site at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.
At this morning's opening general session, Steve Anderson (president and CEO of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores) will discuss the state of the industry. The afternoon general session will feature an update from the Drug Enforcement Administration. Tomorrow, conference-goers will hear from State Senator Charles Schwertner, the only pharmacist in the Texas Legislature and chair of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, as the state gears up for the 2019 legislative session. More than 16 hours of continuing education are available this weekend.
Among the other highlights, our annual Awards Luncheon will celebrate the best among us and TPA scholarship recipients, our Expo will feature 75 exhibitors including the popular Silent Auction, and the President's Celebration at Bowlero will offer a chance to have fun. Tomorrow morning's 0.5K fun "run" promises to be entertaining while raising money for scholarships.
