The State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) held its quarterly business meeting on Tuesday. This was the first meeting with the newly-appointed Board members.
The Board adopted several final rules including the professional responsibility of pharmacists and clarification of red flag factors to be considered in dispensing prescription drugs, which passed by a vote of 5 to 4; fingertip and media fill testing requirements for pharmacies compounding low- to medium-risk sterile preparations with pharmacists working in multiple pharmacies under common ownership; and task force recommendations for drug use review related to the operation of class C pharmacies in certain rural hospitals.
Thank you to TPA Past-President Mary Klein and Member Sabrina Griggs for serving on the Board task force. The full agenda for the Board meeting is available online.
