Texas Pharmacy Association President Mark Comfort spoke September 18 at the inaugural Texas Hypertension Control Summit in Houston, sponsored by The American Heart Association and the Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Section of the Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Comfort was part of a panel discussing the role of team-based care members in hypertension management.
He also presented a poster highlighting the Northeast Texas Hypertension Adherence Program, which is a TPA-supported pilot project to improve hypertension medication adherence among high-risk populations by connecting patients with community pharmacists.
“I was honored to be invited to be part of the panel discussion,” Comfort said. “We look forward to continuing to collaborate with DSHS as our pilot program moves into the next phase.”
