Texas Pharmacy Association CEO Debbie Garza attended the Texas House Republican Caucus (THRC) reception and dinner September 20 in Austin. The THRC comprises the 95 Republican members of the Texas House of Representatives.
U.S. Congressman and Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee Kevin Brady was the keynote speaker. Brady spoke about the landmark federal tax reform law now in effect. His remark, “if you want to think big, you have to work big” rang true to all the effort, planning, and collaboration that goes with passing legislation just as TPA has done and will continue to do working with the pharmacy groups and other pharmacy partners in Texas as we gear up for the next legislative session starting in January.
At the event TPA had the opportunity to speak with several key legislators about legislative priorities. The message from outgoing Texas House Speaker Joe Straus also resonated as he said, “we are Texans, and Texans stand up for our beliefs.” We are pharmacy and we must stand up for our beliefs!
