TPA and other pharmacy groups had a follow-up meeting this week with Texas Medicaid Vendor Drug Program (VDP) Deputy Director Gina Marie Muniz and her staff to continue discussions about the speciality drug list (SDL). The meeting focused on changes that will be made to the June SDL and what VDP plans to communicate with all stakeholders and implement for the September SDL going forward. Most of TPA’s recommendations to improve the process will be implemented, including a transparent process and understanding of VDP’s interpretation of criteria to determine drugs to be placed on the SDL, engagement of pharmacy and all stakeholders for that matter in the process, feedback prior to the quarterly SDL changes, and improved communications. We appreciate the VDP’s willingness to hear pharmacy’s concerns and make needed improvements.
