This week TPA attended the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) quarterly Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) interagency meeting to provide an update. Executive Director Allison Benz shared statistics:
There are now 71,703 registered users, including approximately 22,742 pharmacists, 25,067 physicians and 7,805 nurse practitioners.
There have been 2,696,376 searches in the 1st quarter and 2nd quarter of the 2018 fiscal year, out of 19,928,194 controlled substances dispensed.
Allison also shared with the work group TSBP's decision to request appropriations for the addition of NarxCare to the PMP system, along with its integration, so that all prescribers and dispensers would have access to NarxCare. If you have not registered for the PMP, please take time to do so. To-date the Texas PMP system is connected to the PMP systems of 20 other states.
