With the 86th Texas Legislature convening in less than a month, lobbyists and senior staff from the Texas Pharmacy Summit member organizations met December 10 to discuss legislative priorities and review draft bills received to date.
Audra Conwell from the Alliance of Independent Pharmacists (AIP) and John Heal from Texas TrueCare Pharmacies provided an update on the PBM reform bill and the leadership of state Rep. Tom Oliverson (R-Houston) at both the national and state level on this issue. The Summit's pharmacist leaders have been meeting for more than a year to come together on shared pharmacy priorities to deliver a unified message at the Capitol. Together Pharmacy Advances!
In addition to the Texas Pharmacy Association, Summit members include AIP, the Texas Independent Pharmacies Association (TIPA), Texas TrueCare, the Texas Federation of Drug Stores (TFDS), the Texas Pharmacy Business Council (TPBC), the Texas Society of Health-System Pharmacists (TSHP), and the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS).
