The only pharmacist in the Texas Legislature, Senator Charles Schwertner (R-Georgetown), filed SB 2284 last week to increase patients’ access to pharmacists’ care in Texas by requiring reimbursement for pharmacist-provided services that are within a pharmacist’s scope of practice. Schwertner’s Senate bill is a companion to HB 3441 filed earlier last week by State Representative Eddie Lucio III. TPA appreciates having a legislator who truly understands the value Texas pharmacists bring to their communities by improving health outcomes and reducing long-term medical costs!
TPA Members Paige Koskinen, Mikaela DeBarba, and President Mark Comfort visit Sen. Charles Schwertner last fall.
