Texas was well represented at this year’s American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Annual Meeting in Seattle, March 22–25. Hundreds of Texas pharmacists and student pharmacists took part in this year’s “Moving Pharmacy Forward” meeting by participating in continuing education sessions, visiting the expo hall, and delivering poster presentations.

TPA President Mark Comfort; Past Presidents Mary Klein, Carol Reagan, and Carole Hardin-Oliver; Board members Michelle Beall and Nathan Pope; TPF Board member May Woo; and member Lynn Crismon formed the Texas delegation to the APhA House of Delegates where they actively took part in policy-making for our great profession. Policies dealt with consolidation within healthcare, pharmacists’ role in mental health and emotional well-being, a referral system for the pharmacy profession, gluten content and labeling in medications, unit-of-use packaging, pharmacist and pharmacy personnel well-being, qualification standards for pharmacists, collaborative practice agreements, technician product verification, patient-centered care of people who inject drugs (PWID), and creating safe work and learning environments for student pharmacists, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians.

Thank you to our delegates who committed their time this past year to the policy process and represented us so well at APhA 2019.
