Delegates line up at the microphone to debate a medical cannabis resolution.
The Texas Pharmacy Association's House of Delegates—the voice of the membership—met Saturday afternoon, August 3, during the 2019 TPA Conference & Expo. Speaker Frank North led discussion by more than 70 certified delegates representing local pharmacy associations, affiliates, the TPA Board of Directors, past presidents, and other groups. The House debated and approved resolutions concerning pharmacist and technician permissive communication related to prior authorization, medical cannabis, pharmacist workplace environment and patient safety, expanding technician roles, and pharmacist and pharmacy personnel well-being. These resolutions will go to the Board of Directors for approval in September. At the conclusion of the meeting, North handed the gavel to incoming Speaker Lisa Killam-Worrall. Candidates for Speaker-Elect then each had an opportunity to address the delegates.
