Texas Pharmacy Association CEO Debbie Garza and Member Bruce McAnally attended a fundraiser for U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) on Wednesday in The Woodlands. Cornyn is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which is making decisions about drug pricing legislation and reforming pharmacy direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) at the federal level. The event, hosted by TPA PharmPAC Board Member Richie Ray and his wife CeCe, afforded the opportunity for pharmacists to speak with the senator about the impact of DIR on patients and on pharmacies and the need for his help with federal DIR reform. Cornyn talked about the concerns with PBMs and the high cost of prescription drugs with rebates/discounts not flowing down to consumers.
