GIving Tuesday 2019: Give to the Texas Pharmacy Foundation

Becoming a pharmacist is expensive. That's why the Texas Pharmacy Foundation awards scholarships to deserving students at accredited Texas pharmacy schools. Your contribution today—whether $10, $50, $100, or more—will help TPF advance the profession of pharmacy through research and scholarship.

GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Every act of generosity counts, and even small donations mean more when we give together.

John and Beverly CarsonAlso this GivingTuesday, the Texas Pharmacy Foundation challenges all independent Texas pharmacists to help fund a scholarship named for one of their own.

In July 2017, longtime Texas Pharmacy Association member and past president John Carson and his wife Beverly were killed in a single-vehicle accident on the opening day of the annual TPA Conference & Expo. John was the founder of San Antonio's Oakdell Pharmacy and the Carsons dedicated much of their professional and personal lives to pharmacy advocacy. Last year, their son Jeff—a pharmacist himself—announced the formation of the John and Beverly Carson Scholarship to honor his parents.

"Their hard work was inspiring to those around them, including countless numbers of pharmacy students," Jeff says. "This scholarship will help continue their dream and their legacy of inspiring tomorrow’s pharmacists to do the same. As my father always said, 'get in to politics or get out of pharmacy!'"

TPF needs your help to make this scholarship a reality. Your contribution today toward our $50,000 goal will help extend the Carsons' legacy and advance the profession of pharmacy through research and scholarship.
