Texas Pharmacy Association President Raj Chhadua held a town hall meeting Thursday, January 9 with Dallas Area Pharmacy Association members at the Kroger Training Center in Coppell. He discussed the importance of TPA membership and involvement, as evidenced by legislative wins during the 2019 legislative session. He also addressed goals for the 2021 session and highlighted the importance of our political action committee, PharmPAC, in advancing our advocacy efforts.
He also told attendees that TPA and other Texas pharmacy groups will meet soon to discuss the Texas State Board of Pharmacy's possible expansion of technician duties; TPA recognizes the importance of maximizing technicians in order to allow pharmacists to move into more advanced provider roles. Similarly, TPA is working with pharmaceutical manufacturers, health plans and other outside groups to explore advancing the roles and responsibilities of pharmacists.
Other topics of discussion included PBM reform, collaborative practice, and cannabis.
