Action Alert: Support Federal Provider Status

Your Voice is Vital!

CMS LogoNow is the time to ask federal officials to remove limitations on pharmacists' scope of practice. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is only accepting comments on this topic through the end of the day tomorrow (Friday), January 17, 2020, so don't delay!

Specifically, CMS is seeking input and recommendations regarding elimination of Medicare regulations that require more stringent supervision than existing state scope of practice laws, or that limit health professionals from practicing at the top of their license. The request stems from an executive order directing the Department of Health and Human Services to propose Medicare reforms to benefit senior citizens.

Make your voice heard in Washington! Although time is short, we have made it easy for you to participate in this important advocacy effort. Download a sample letter that you can customize to fit your practice and send it to CMS Administrator Seema Verma. Again, the deadline is the end of the day on January 17.

The Texas Pharmacy Association has signed onto a broader comment letter by our national association partners the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA), National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) to request the same elimination of burdensome regulations that limit pharmacists' ability to provide the best patient care.

Thank you for supporting your profession!
