Nancy Ejuma   
Director, Immunization Unit, Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)

Nancy Ejuma is currently serving as the Immunization Unit Director within the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Prior to this position, she served as the Immuniza­tion Program Manager for the District of Columbia Department of Health. In her current role, Ms. Ejuma is responsible for all aspects of the Immuniza­tion Unit. Her duties include ensuring the immuniza­tion capacity within the State, as well as administering the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN) Programs; ImmTrac2, the statewide immunization registry; school and child-care immuni­zation compliance; media and publications; and con­tracts for the performance of immunization activities.

 

Ms. Ejuma represents Texas in both the Association of Immunization Managers and International As­sociation of Immunization Managers. She has served as a member of the Executive Committee within the Association of Immunization Managers since 2016. In her volunteer roles she has gained an international perspective on immunization programs. Ms. Ejuma has earned a Bachelor of Art in International Health, Anthropology and Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Art in Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and an MBA focused on healthcare from Yale University. Ms. Ejuma is preparing to defend her doctoral dissertation on the psychological factors that lead to vaccine hesi­tancy across cultures at the Chicago School of Profes­sional Psychology’s Washington DC campus. She lives in Austin with her 14-year-old daughter (Mackenzie) and their two yorkie-poos.
