Statement
I am honored to be nominated to run for the position of president-elect and look forward to the opportunity to serve our Association in new ways. At the age of 18, I started my career in pharmacy by joining Walmart's workforce. Upon graduating from pharmacy school in 2013, I opened my first pharmacy in Austin. Since then, I have owned and operated three independent pharmacies and two digital health care companies.
As a Texas pharmacist and business owner, I believe that our Association should be focused on supporting its members and advancing the profession of pharmacy in Texas. If elected, I plan to prioritize collaboration with our members to ensure that their voices are heard and their needs are met. We will work together to identify opportunities for growth and create initiatives that promote innovation and excellence in pharmacy practice.
Having worked in the trenches as a pharmacist on both the chain and independent sides of community pharmacy, I understand the day-to-day issues and concerns of pharmacists in both settings and will use that experience to address those issues and empower pharmacists and technicians across Texas. I am committed to advocating for policies that improve patient outcomes and access to health care. This includes fighting against harmful legislation that may negatively impact the pharmacy profession and working with legislators to develop solutions that benefit both patients and pharmacists.
Over the last 10 years, I have had the privilege of serving in all positions on the TPA board, beginning as a student director in 2012 and progressing to roles such as director, treasurer, and my current position as vice president. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had these opportunities, which have given me great insight into the internal operations and finances of the organization. If elected, I hope to use the momentum and knowledge as a leader in the organization to advocate for and create public policies that will allow us to practice at the top of our licenses.
I am passionate about advocating for the pharmacy profession and ensuring that pharmacists are recognized as valued members of the health care team. I believe that as president-elect, I can work to strengthen our relationships with other health care organizations and government agencies to advocate for policies that support the role of pharmacists in patient care. Together, we can work toward making a positive impact on the health of Texans.
I strongly stand behind the mission of TPA, and if elected as TPA’s president-elect I will continue to use the platform to ensure the strength and sustainability of our organization. Thank you for your consideration.
