TPA Member and AIP President-Elect Carter High of Best Value Pharmacies in Rhome, Texas, discussed DIR fees at an October 19 event in Washington, DC, with Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) and the National Physicians’ Council for Healthcare Policy. High’s presentation, “Prescription Drug Pricing and Community Pharmacy,” highlighted DIR and the negative impacts it has on both patients and pharmacies as well as other PBM tactics that undermine patients.

TPA Board Member Michelle Beall and Member Chris Felton met with State Rep. Matt Schaefer (R-Tyler) on November 1 to discuss pharmacists’ ability to play a bigger role in healthcare by providing enhanced services and improving patient outcomes. “While noncommittal on our issues, he was open to patients having freedom of choice and making services more available to people,” Beall said. “Pharmacists getting to know their elected officials and continuing to build that relationship is imperative for pharmacy practice to advance.”
