Texas Pharmacy Association CEO Debbie Garza, R.Ph., was invited to the University of the Incarnate Word's Feik School of Pharmacy on November 27 to speak to first-year pharmacy students and to share her career path during TPA Member and Associate Dean Dr. Russell Attridge’s Introduction to Pharmacy class. Garza discussed the role leadership and advocacy has played in her career and how her position at TPA allows her to continue her passion of advocating for this great profession. She stressed to the students what’s at risk if they don’t advocate for their profession. She also discussed pharmacy’s priorities for the upcoming legislative session and encouraged them to participate in Pharmacy Day at the Capitol on February 26.

Garza was also able to attend the  APhA-ASP student chapter meeting and explained to students what TPA does, student opportunities to engage with TPA, and how their participation is powerful for the profession. “I emphasized the importance of participation in state advocacy and how being a member of TPA can help student pharmacists make a difference,” Garza said.
