The November 28 Texas Business Roundtable dinner afforded the Texas Pharmacy Association the opportunity to meet incoming legislators and explain who we are and what we do for the pharmacy profession. TPA President Mark Comfort, Division Director of Public Affairs Stephanie Chiarello, Lobbyist Karen Reagan, and P4 Intern Jane Jeon attended the Wednesday evening event, which honored newly elected freshman members of the 2019 Texas Legislature.

Dennis Bonnen, speaker pro tempore of the Texas House of Representatives and the leading candidate to become House speaker in January, gave opening remarks congratulating freshman members and reminded all to be there for each other regardless of party affiliation. Bonnen announced his primary focus as speaker will be to address school finance in Texas.

Earlier in the day, Chiarello met individually with Bonner and Senator Donna Campbell to encourage their support of pharmacy-related issues during the next session.
