Statement

My name is Dr. Ashley Garling. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, and I am running for Speaker-Elect for the House of Delegates for The Texas Pharmacy Association.

I have been involved in the profession of pharmacy for the last 22 years, and I have experience in community pharmacy, corporate-community pharmacy, inpatient hospital pharmacy, and advanced clinical services. This broad background gives me the ability to see many perspectives, and as your Speaker-Elect, my top priority would be to aid your voice so it is heard.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown pharmacists’ broad capabilities and integral healthcare role in Texas and worldwide. If there’s a time to be involved, the time is now! With the positive light shed on our profession, we are in a prime position to expand our scope of practice, make positive changes, and significantly influence important pharmacy issues such as immunization expansion, technician roles, test and treat, PBM reform, and many more.

As we enter into this era of change and growth, I also wish to advocate and use my voice to protect pharmacists, improve their working environments, safeguard their health, and improve the overall wellbeing of Texas pharmacists.

The time to activate change in our profession is now; the time to educate the public on the life-saving skills of pharmacists is now. I ask you today to elect me to the Texas Pharmacy Association board so that we can continue to empower Texas pharmacists together. I look forward to a strong future for Texas Pharmacists and our Texas Pharmacy Association.
