Description: This presentation will give immunizing pharmacists their full 3-hour CE credit and focus on updating them in the major aspects of immunizations. It will also familiarize the pharmacist with post-exposure treatment recommendations for vaccine preventable diseases. The program is designed to enhance learning through interactive tools such as Turning Point, clickers and hands-on administration technique.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Identify changes or updates to the child, adolescent and adult immunization schedule.
2. Describe the new 2016 ACIP immunization recommendations
3. Evaluate different questions that have been submitted to the CDE website
4. Determine appropriate answers for the questions that commonly arise.
5. Describe the post-exposure prophylaxis treatment for vaccine preventable diseases.

At the completion of this activity, technicians will be able to:
1. Identify changes or updates to the child, adolescent and adult immunization schedule.
2. Describe the new 2016 ACIP immunization recommendations
3. Evaluate different questions that have been submitted to the CDE website
4. List appropriate answers for the questions that commonly arise.

Description: Every year the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves a number of new drugs for use. In some cases, these new agents represent significant advancements over older, more established treatments. In other instances, however, marketing practices by pharmaceutical companies result in widespread use of some new drugs over less costly, commonly used agents with similar risks and benefits to patients. This seminar will review some recently approved drugs with an emphasis on their pharmacology, clinical efficacy, adverse effects, drug interactions, and monitoring requirements. Attendees will learn practical information about the new drugs presented, which in turn, they can use in their interactions with prescribers and in the care and counseling of their patients.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists will be able to:
1. Discuss the basic pharmacology of the new drugs presented and how the pharmacologic actions relate to both therapeutic and adverse effects.
2. Discuss clinically significant adverse effects and drug interactions, and the appropriate dosing and monitoring of the new drugs presented.
3. Discuss the therapeutic role of the new drugs presented as compared to agents already marketed.

Description: The purpose of this activity is to educate pharmacists to prepare to expand their pharmacy operations for immunization compliance. Immunization compliance is more than having a standing order. The pharmacy must ensure they have liability insurance that covers the dispensing of immunizations, policies and procedures, intake forms, OSHA requirements including Bloodborne Pathogen Plan. There are many requirements that are needed for immunizations with very little mandates until an patient has a reaction to the vaccine, this is when the liability insurance company starts requesting Policies and Procedures and all the items mention above.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Recognize the governing organizations to perform immunizations
2. Discuss Standing Orders & Emergency Protocols
3. Discuss the need for a policy and procedure manual beyond Standing Orders
4. Describe how Immunizations are considered a MTM Intervention

Description: The Patient Safety Act of 2005 is now in effect and requires all Health Care Providers to document all adverse events through a quality improvement program. Pharmacies must understand these new requirements, the legal protection the law provides when reporting adverse events and the consequences of not implementing or not reporting adverse events. When adverse events are reported to a Patient Safety Organization, all documentation is considered "Privileged" through the legal protection of the Act and the documentation cannot be obtained through a subpoena.

At the completion of this activity, pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Recognize how the new Patient Safety Act impacts pharmacy operations
2. Explain the types of Adverse Events that occur within a pharmacy operation
3. Describe when an Adverse Event is a HIPAA Compliance Breach

Description: This activity will introduce pharmacists to evidence-based approaches for managing stress. Attendees will practice mind-body skills known to short-circuit the “fright, fight, or flight” response to stressful situations. Attendees also will learn cognitive practices for changing their thinking about potentially stressful situations. Attendees will leave with a personal toolkit of strategies for controlling the amount of stress they experience both in and out of the workplace.

At the completion of this activity, the pharmacists and technicians will be able to:
1. Identify common sources of stress for pharmacy professionals and possible effects on physical health, mood, and behavior.
2. Contrast the body's stress response and relaxation response.
3. Demonstrate practices for eliciting the relaxation response, including proper breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and mindfulness meditation.
4. Use simple cognitive techniques to transform stressful thoughts.
5. Formulate a personal list of "in-the-moment" strategies that can be employed when stressful situations arise in pharmacy practice.

The presentation is interactive and requires active participation from audience members in order to take home actual sample clinical pharmacy protocols and billing documents.
