Garza to Consult with Texas Expert Vaccine Allocation Panel

Texas Pharmacy Association CEO Debbie Garza has been invited by Dr. John Hellerstedt, Commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, to be an ad hoc consultant liaison to the department's Expert Vaccine Allocation Panel. In this role, Garza will be asked to assist panel members with data and information that will inform critical decisions during the coming weeks regarding allocations of COVID-19 vaccine throughout the state.

The panel will develop guiding principles on vaccine allocations and then apply those principles in their recommendations to Hellerstedt. Some of these principles may include equitable distribution across urban and rural communities, and considerations of application of national immunization guidance for vulnerable populations.
