In
an op-ed published June 21, Texas Pharmacy Association CEO Debbie
Garza highlighted the importance of pharmacy benefit manager (PBM)
reform to help patients afford their prescription medications.
"Texas has done well in taking the
lead in challenging the PBMs, but more can be done," Garza said. "To
make prescription drugs more affordable, policymakers need to seek ways
to ensure that when the PBMs negotiate rebates and discounts with
pharmaceutical companies, that they pass along those savings to the
consumer at the point of saleāthe pharmacy counter."
