Choose a Unique APPE Elective Rotation!
The Texas Pharmacy Association offers an Austin-based elective APPE rotation in pharmacy association administration. If you want to learn how to stay actively engaged in pharmacy post-graduation from a professional, regulatory, or legislative standpoint, this rotation is for you! What to ExpectIn this rotation, you will explore the dynamics between both state and federal professional associations and agencies, pharmaceutical companies, payers, the public, and other stakeholders. Projects will vary depending on the time of year and needs of the association, but may focus on legislative advocacy, member engagement, event planning, grant opportunities and more. All administrative departments of the association will be explored, including membership, education, marketing, communications, accounting, and the Professional Recovery Network (PRN), illustrating the broader business operations beyond pharmacy practice. This in-person rotation is based at TPA's headquarters in Austin. Why Consider This RotationNo prior experience is necessary, but students with strong reading and writing skills, as well as a foundational knowledge of pharmacy business and legislative matters, will have an advantage. Students on this rotation will emerge as well-rounded pharmacists who understand the broader health care landscape and the implications that policy can have on the profession. TPA welcomes P4 APPE students from every Texas college or school of pharmacy. Learn MoreFor more information, contact Sarah Nguyen.
