Student Pharmacist Poster Showcase

 

Call for Abstracts

Submission Deadline: May 25, 2025

The Texas Pharmacy Association (TPA) is seeking abstract submissions for its Student Poster Showcase at the 2025 TPA Conference & Expo, July 18–20 at the Austin Marriott Downtown in Austin, Texas. TPA hosts its Student Poster Showcase to celebrate student contributions to advancing pharmacy practice. The Poster Showcase gives students the opportunity to share their work and dialogue with pharmacy professionals across the state representing a variety of practice areas.

TPA student pharmacist members (P1 through P4) are invited to submit original or encore posters on any topic relevant to pharmacy practice. Authors of all accepted abstracts will be asked to participate in the poster viewing session in the Expo Hall Friday, July 18 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Poster presenters will stand by their posters and discuss their projects with attendees.

Abstract Guidelines for Submission

Poster abstracts can be submitted on any topic related to the practice of pharmacy. Abstracts should be a short description of your research/project in pharmacy.

Example topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Innovation in community pharmacy practice
  • Pharmacy business plans
  • Pharmacy operations
  • Community engagement
  • Non-medical drivers of health
  • Clinical research
  • Adherence
  • Quality improvement
  • Technology/digital health
  • Readiness

Format: Word document, single-spaced, Arial 12-point font, with 1-inch margins. Abstract titles should be no longer than 50 characters and abstract body no more than 300 words.

Submissions will be reviewed by TPA for quality and relevance. Abstracts and posters should contain the following elements:

  • Background: Introduces the context of the project.
  • Objective(s): Explains the purpose or goals of the project.
  • Method(s): Provides information on design, procedures, data analysis, etc.
  • Result(s): Summarizes key findings.
  • Conclusion(s): Describes wider implications or applications of results.
  • Disclosure(s): Provides information on any potential conflicts of interest; include even if author(s) have nothing to disclose.

Abstract Submission Deadline

Abstract submissions will be accepted through May 25, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CST. Late submissions will not be accepted. Notification of acceptance will be emailed to the presenter(s) of each poster abstract by early-June.

Poster Guidelines for Accepted Abstract Submissions

Poster Displays

Posters must be no more than 48” wide x 36” high. Posters should include the title, author(s), college/school of pharmacy, and the required abstract elements—background, objective(s), method(s), result(s), conclusion(s), and disclosure(s)—on the poster. Poster boards will not include push pins, so please plan to bring your own supplies.

PDF Posters

A PDF version of the final poster will be reviewed by TPA to confirm it is appropriate for display at the conference. PDF posters should be submitted no later than June 22, 2025 at 11:59 PM CST. Failure to submit PDF posters by this deadline may result in disqualification from the Poster Showcase. Students will have their PDF posters included in the Student Academy section of the TPA website.

 

Poster Showcase Information

The Poster Showcase will take place on Friday, July 18 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Expo Hall. Poster presenters should stand by their posters and be available to discuss their projects with attendees. A maximum of four authors may present per poster.

All participants in the poster session are required to register for the 2025 TPA Conference & Expo in Austin, TX. Participants are responsible for all expenses to the conference, including registration, travel, and accommodations. While it is not required that you attend the entire conference, you are encouraged to take advantage of the events as a unique opportunity to connect with pharmacy professionals from all over Texas.

  • February 13, 2025: Abstract submission opens
  • May 25, 2025 (11:59 p.m. CST): Abstract submission closes
  • Early-June, 2025:    Notification of abstract decision
  • June 22, 2025 (11:59 p.m. CST): PDF of poster due
  • July 2, 2025 (11:59 p.m. CST): Final revisions for poster due
  • July 11, 2025: Final instructions for Student Poster Showcase
  • July 18 – 19, 2025: Student Poster Showcase in the Expo Hall
  • July 18 – 20, 2025: TPA Conference & Expo
