What Is SPARx?

SPARx is a four-module program developed by TPA-ASP students that emphasizes the importance of uniting our profession.  The program empowers students to advocate effectively and build meaningful relationships through focused training in:

  • Advocacy
  • Enhancing Public Health
  • Communicating Across Disciplines
  • MTM Regulations

Why Advocacy?

Advocacy is key to ensuring that the profession of pharmacy thrives and as pharmacists you are fully able to practice at the top of your education and training.

Why Is There a Need?

  • Advocacy: Addressing the evolving role of the pharmacist and actively engaging in policy to shape the future of pharmacy.
  • Enhancing Public Health: Promoting pharmacist-led initiatives to improve health outcomes in our communities.
  • Communicating Across Differences: Bridging gaps in understanding to build stronger, more collaborative relationships with patients and healthcare providers.
  • MTM Regulations: Elevating recognition of pharmacists’ value by strengthening medication therapy management practices and understanding regulatory frameworks.

Why Relations?

Everything we do is about the relationships we build with others: our patients, each other in different specialties and practice settings, and other health care providers. Whether it be public relations, government relations, collaborating with other healthcare professionals or networking at a conference, these relationships directly affect our practice.

How Does It Work?

Each module has two requirements:

  1. Review the presentation materials.
  2. Complete an assignment that will reinforce principles learned from the workshop.

How to Participate

Students have from September through March to complete all four modules and their corresponding activities.
